The Granville County Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Butner hosted this month’s Sunrise Forum at Lake Holt. Today, we were greeted with gorgeous lake views and warm coffee on the back porch. A light breakfast was provided. Attendees included Butner’s mayor, Terry Turner and councilmembers Vickie Smoak and Jimmy Gooch. Managers from Butner, Creedmoor and Granville County were also present. Other elected officials also came to the meeting: Jackie Sergent, Oxford Mayor and Zelodis Jay, County Commissioner. Long-time vendor, Sam Harris, also attended along with various members of the Chamber and Tourism Development Authority (TDA).
Today’s speaker was Alicia Chamberlain, operator of LakeSide Grill. Praise for the various improvements at the lake was high and Butner appreciates everything Alicia has done to help make this area a destination, not only for Butner but for southern Granville County. She hosts bluegrass bands and fishing tournaments, the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the large shelter is seemingly booked every weekend. Last year, the Town added playground equipment and two gazebos for people’s enjoyment. Come out and enjoy the amazing views, live music and great food!
