A humble public servant and a God-fearing family man, who cares deeply for others. A husband, father and grandfather, who profoundly loves his family. A retired state employee (Murdoch Center). Has been a school teacher, an electrical contractor (N.C. Electrical Contractor License) and civic leader. Served as noncommission Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. Posses several college degrees: Louisburg Junior College, Associate of Arts (General College); Western Carolina University, Bachelor of Arts (Political Science), Bachelor of Science (Education), and Master of Arts (Education). A devoted and active church member (First Baptist of Butner). Served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, usher, and on the Benevolent Committee and Chair of the Facility Handbook Committee.
Locally active: Granville County (Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors). He served on County committees (Veterans Affairs, Environmental Affairs, and Greenways Technical), Butner (Public Safety Fireman’s Relief Fund Board); and Butner committees (Community Building, Parks and Recreation, and Military Holiday, chair). Most proud of the Military Holiday Committee, which is responsible for the ceremonies honoring our Armed Forces.
Currently in his second term (2017 – Present) as Butner Mayor, having served six years (2009-2015) as a Butner Town Councilmember. Received the Ker-Tar Regional Council of Governments 2015 award for Most Outstanding Municipal Elected Official. An active member of the NC Mayors Association and the NC League of Municipalities.
Exciting and positive things occurred under his administration. Most gratifying the completion of the Veteran Life Center. New businesses and industries opening in Town. Improvements happening to Butner’s streets, sidewalks, parks, and more. Plus, the renovation of a historic fire station. The acquisition of 36 acres of State property.
His main priority is to create an exceptional community of Butner current citizens and for generations to come.
