The Butner Gateway is the area on the west side of I-85, up to C Street, between exits 189 and 191. Town staff and officials feel this area has great potential for development and envisions multi-use development that requires solid planning. The Butner Gateway Small Area Plan is a long term master plan including implementation strategy to take the plan to market. It is the result of a collaborative planning process with input from a variety of sources including civic leaders, community organizations, local property and business owners, and community residents. From this input, an understanding of Butner’s perceived strengths and weaknesses was determined, which allowed the team to develop a market-based plan for the future.
