2024 Tax Revaluation

2024 Tax Revaluation

We understand that property taxes can be a topic of concern, and we're here to help address your questions. If you've recently received a new tax valuation and are unsure about it, consider the following suggestions:

1. Appeal Process: If you're concerned about your new tax value, you have the right to appeal. The County tax office has a formal process for challenging new valuations, and we encourage you to utilize this option if needed. You can file an appeal with the Granville County Tax Administration Office as soon as you receive your assessment notice until the first Board of Equalization and Review (E&R) hearing scheduled for April 29, 2024. Please contact the Granville County Tax Office at (919) 693-4181 or 141 Williamsboro Street, PO Box 219, Oxford NC 27565 for specific tax questions or to mail appeals and supporting documentation.

2. Property Relief Programs: Reach out to the County tax office to inquire about eligibility for property relief programs. There are programs specifically designed for elderly or disabled individuals, as well as disabled veterans. These programs can reduce the amount you pay in taxes, providing valuable financial relief. 3. Understanding Tax Payments: It's important to note that a higher property value does not always mean higher taxes. The final tax payment is determined by both the tax value and the tax rate. The tax rates for both the County and Town will be set during the budgeting process.
