Federal Correctional Complex
The Federal Correctional Complex is a federally-run prison for men. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), a division of the United States Department of Justice (DOJ).There are four facilities that make up the complex with different levels of security. FCI Butner Low is a low-security institution that houses approximately 1329 inmates. FCI Butner Medium I is a medium-security institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp. It houses 991 total inmates. 678 of these are in the FCI institution while 313 of them are in the camp. FCI Butner Medium II houses 1438 inmates. FMC Butner is an administrative security federal medical center. It is BOP’s largest medical complex which operates a drug treatment program and specializes in oncology and behavioral science. It houses 944 inmates on all security levels with health issues.
